My 3 brothers and I were born first generation Lebanese in Akron, ohio. I am second in line however, even my younger brothers believe they are my father. Our home was constantly filled with people as my parents always had an open door policy. My mother was a stay at home mom and cooked homemade meals everyday prompting all of our friends to come over every night to eat. A Lebanese family (like many other ethnic families) are always LOUD and crazy. Sadly, my mother passed away very young of pancreatic cancer but the thoughts of our home, loud, full of people and food are never far from my mind. In 1996 I became a Flight Attendant for Continental Airlines and had an amazing 9 years traveling the world and meeting amazing people. It was during one of those flights that I met and ultimately, met, fell in love with, and married Legendary R&B singer Lou Rawls. We were rarely ever apart as we were on tour well over 150 days a year and miss those times together all the time.
In January 2005 God blessed us with our son, Aiden who will be turning 8 and is the love of my life. January 2006 we suffered the greatest of losses when Lou succumb to cancer after a year long battle with cancer. The world lost a legend but we as his family lost the love of my life, a great father and wonderful man. Aiden, is a wonderful reminder of my life with Lou as he has his father’s personality, disposition and pre-puberty voice. We continue to share Lou’s legacy with the world. A few years ago, I created and finally implemented this wonderful show. 2day2niteshow is the first of it’s kind. It has never been done before and we LOVE what we do and hope you love it as much as we do. Thank you all for your love and support and look forward to hearing from you all.
All our love,
Coming Soon – Nina’s Story
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, I always had a keen sense of who I was and the woman I wanted to become. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1992 from a United Negro College Fund (UNCF) institution, Wiley College (Home of the Great Debaters) in Marshall, Texas. I am very active with my alma mater and have served on Wiley’s Board of Trustees and former president of the National Alumni Association. I began working at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) over 20 years ago as a bank examiner. I have worked in several FDIC offices [Houston, Indianapolis, Detroit, Washington (DC), San Francisco, and Chicago] where I have examined over 180 financial institutions with assets ranging from $15 million to $3.7 billion. As the Founder and CEO of Destiny’s Door, I am blessed to live out my life’s purpose, which is to help children grow into competent and relevant adults. I am a 25-year volunteer with UNCF, a mentor, an officer of Toastmasters International, a community activist, and a cheer/basketball/dance/track mom. The upcoming release of my first book, entitled What’s In Your 24? How To Get It Done, Without Getting Undone, will attempt to abolish the misnomer that is in women’s everyday language: “I don’t have time.” I am 42 years old and the younger of two siblings. I reside in Aurora, Illinois with my adorable 12-year old daughter, Destiny Subira; and my cat, Dominion ShakaZulu. It’s been a joy talking with all of you weekly on the show and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. TTFN (Ta Ta For Now) and remember that you live to learn and learn to live. Smooches!
I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. I had two brothers and have two sisters. We are a close grown family and we spend a lot of time together. I graduated from Manchester High School; where I met my beautiful wife Joan of 30 years. I attended the University of Akron and graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Sports medicine. Upon graduation I worked as an Athletic Trainer for several professional soccer teams for six years. I am currently employed as a Presentational Skills Trainer for a major telemarketing company.
Joan and I have three boys; Richie, Mike and Chris and we are very proud of their successes. We provide support to each other in all we do. We have been blessed with our first granddaughter Isabell. Our family enjoys watching movies, as a matter of fact we all get together as a family and watch Christmas Vacation every Christmas Eve. (LOL) It is great to be a part of the 2day2nite family and I look forward to sharing fun times together.
